PRAYER

United in Solace and Grace is surrounded by prayer - in this section you will find some useful prayers, and a link to our dedicated prayer email address

THE SOLACE AND GRACE PRAYER

Reconciling God,
We ask for the courage to reach out,
The compassion to comfort,
And the grace to walk alongside
those who have been mistreated by others.

May our Church communities
become places of refuge and safety,
And may we seek your healing presence,
So that we can be united in solace and grace
          with those who suffer,
Now and Always.    Amen

J's PRAYER

Dear Jesus

Help the blind to see the bars that surround them

Help the prisoner escape the situation that holds them

Give the escapee strength to remain free

Let them all find and accept your love in their life.

Amen

PRAYER FOR ITS NOT OK WEEK

God of grace and wisdom.
You have taught us that it is not OK
          to abuse and mistreat others.
Give us the courage to speak out
and the strength to fight injustice
          where we see it.
For the sake of your Son
          who suffered injustice,
          was crucified for our sake,
and was raised to new life.  Amen

THE SERENITY PRAYER

Lord, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage
to change the things I can,
and the wisdom
to know the difference.  Amen

Ubuntu Prayer

Loving Creator,

You have made us for relationship,

not in isolation but in community,

woven together in love, compassion, and mutual care.

Teach us to see Your image in every face—

friend and stranger, neighbour and prisoner,

for in each other, we find ourselves.

Where there is division, make us instruments of unity.

Where there is judgment, sow seeds of mercy.

Where there is brokenness, restore the bonds of belonging.

Remind us, O God,

that my humanity is bound up in yours,

and that none of us is whole until all of us are free. Amen.

who are abused a place to

dare to dream again

that all may see

PRAYERS FOR SURVIVORS OF ABUSE

Loving God,
we hold before you all survivors of abuse.
We thank you for their resilience
          and strength.
Grant them the courage to face each day,
to seek healing and to accept support,
Send them the help that they need
to continue their journey of transformation.
Give strength and understanding to their families and friends
and fill them with peace.
For the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen

Loving and Healing God
we come to you, knowing
that you made us in your image.

We lift up to you all
who are in need of protection.
Give us, and them your safety,
comfort and peace.

We ask you to give us your grace,
and a heart for the broken and the vulnerable,
the oppressed, the voiceless
and the forgotten.

Help us to see and be seen,
to value and to be valued
as you see and value us.

And to bring us all your light and peace.

Now and always.  Amen

PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO WORK WITH SURVIVORS

Compassionate and loving God.
We give you thanks for all those who work
     with survivors of abuse.
Give them strength and courage
     to be open and accepting.
Give them the resilience
to hear and respond without judgement.
Guard their hearts and their minds
     and give them peace.
Give them wisdom, grace and serenity
and the support they need
Hold them in your hands, now and always.  Amen

PRAYER FOR MODERN SLAVERY AND EXPLOITATION

Heavenly Father,
who sees the unseen and notices the unnoticed,
help each of us to hear the Hidden Voices of those
who pray for release from slavery and exploitation,
so that we may give ourselves more fully to the service of your saving love,
and be strengthened together as agents of your healing and hope,
through Jesus Christ,
who himself came to serve as a slave,
so as to bring freedom and grace to all. Amen

Celtic Lords Prayer

Holy One beyond all names
Eternal Wellspring
May love rise again in us today
With food for every table
Shelter for every family
And reverence for every life.
Forgive us our failings in love
And free us from all falseness
That the light of our souls may shine
And the strength of our spirits endure
For Earth and all its people
This day, tonight, and forever. Amen.
